Venco Boerderijdrop / Farmhouse Licorice

Venco is one of the most prestigeous Dutch licorice producers. The famous Venco farmhouse licorice (Boerderijdrop) unconditionally counts as finest licorice. Founded in 1890 in Amsterdam by Gerrit van Voornveld the factory soon captured a central position in the market. During the 1890s an influenza epidemic caused a tremendous increase of the demand for cough surpressing licorice. Van Voornveld's licorice recipe proved to be the perfect remedy against an aching throat and lyrax. At the beginning of the new century, the licorice factory was taken over and the new owners renamed it in Venco (Voornveld and Companions). The new name was a tribute to the founder of the company. After 1945 in the wake of the fusion between Venco and Red Band the factory moved to Roosendaal. Today Venco is a leading licorice brand in the Netherlands which becomes increasingly popular abroad. Original Venco farmhouse licorice has preserved all the fine features of the original recipes Van Voornveld had been using at the end of the 19th century.

Venco farmhouse licorice contains pure licorice juice, salammoniac and aniseed. Although hard, Venco farmhouse licorice is not too chewy and has a refreshing salty touch, which doesn't make you thirsty. With some Venco farmhouse drops at hand, you'll always have some refreshing goodies to share with your friends. Your children will soon discover that they do not only appreciate sweets. Freshening Venco farm-drops are much better! Everyone should try original Venco farm drops, they surely are one of the very best licorices ever!
