Kruidnoten are traditionally eaten in the Netherlands at Christmas time and distributed to children by Sinterklaas, the Dutch St. Nicholas. The biscuits are made of a mixture of aniseed, cinnamon, white pepper and ginger, combined with butter, flour and sugar to create a delicious speculoos flavour. The biscuits are truly typical of the St Nicholas festival on 05 December each year in the Netherlands.
