A delicious recipe idea with Beemster Premium Cheese - cheesy breakfast biscuits
You will need:
Ā Ā Ā 170 g flour
Ā Ā Ā 170 g wholemeal flour
Ā Ā Ā 2 teaspoons baking powder
   ½ teaspoon baking soda
Ā Ā Ā 1 teaspoon of salt
   ½ teaspoon sugar
Ā Ā Ā 120 g cold butter, in pieces
Ā Ā Ā 240 ml buttermilk
Ā Ā Ā 75 g piece of Beemster Alt 48+
Ā Ā Ā 1 egg
Preparation:
1. preheat the oven to 190 degrees and line a baking tray with baking paper.
2. in a bowl, mix the flour, wholemeal flour, baking powder, bicarbonate of soda, salt, sugar and chopped butter with your fingers to form a fine, crumbly dough. Then stir in the buttermilk.
3 Finely grate the cheese and mix 50g of it into the dough.
4 Form a 2 cm thick sheet of dough on a floured work surface. Then cut out about 8 biscuits using a biscuit cutter or glass. Form another 2 cm thick disc from the leftover dough and cut out 2 more rounds.
Ā Ā Then place all the biscuits on the baking tray.
5 Whisk the egg and brush the biscuits with the egg and sprinkle with the remaining cheese.
6. bake in the oven for 20-25 minutes until the biscuits are cooked and golden brown.
