When you are fond of savoury snacks you'll love the famous Dutch bitterballen made by Metro Chef. They are small balls with a diameter of 2 inches or somewhat bigger covered with tasty breadcrumbs. In the inside they consist of savoury rather thick hash filled with thin slices of pork or beef. bitterballen are made of spicy ingredients like beef, beef broth, butter, thikening flours, parsely, salt and pepper.

Their name is derived from bitter, the typical Dutch kind of herb flavored juniper. bitterballen are at best when served with mustard or ramekin. You'll find bitterballen only in areas of the world culturally connected to The Netherlands, like Indonesia, Surinam and The Antilles. But they deserve a place on your table also as they are ideal appetizer snacks. Going with a glass of gin, wine or beer bitterballen are marvellous starters into a promising evening.
